Seven people, in a living room, created a downloadable game for
fifteen dollars that became a better experience than some of the
sixty dollar games out there today. Downloadable games have created
a market that allows for innovation within a profitable scope.
Developers can try new things and not worry about making a profit.
High class, triple a, games take a huge investment and because of
that those developers invest in what they know. They have no time
for an innovation because they need to make a profit. This is not
an issue for downloadable games because of the smaller scale they
work on. Because of this market, gems like Bastion become possible.
Hopefully this market allows for innovation on a grander scale, so
that more and more game like Bastion come along.
